Rice Krispy

Rice Krispy
Marshmallow Treats

History: My kids love these and I have placed them in their cookbooks. Every kid grew up eating these.
Ingredients:
  • ¼ cup regular margarine or butter (butter is better)
  • 1 10 ounce package (about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  1. Melt margarine or butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Cook over low heat 3 mins longer stirring constantly.
  2. Remove from heat
  3. Add cereal and stir until well coated
  4. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into buttered 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cut into 2 inch squares when cool.
Microwave Directions (I use these always)
  • Microwave margarine or butter in a large microwaveable bowl at high (100% power) 45 seconds or until melted.
  • Add marshmallows; toss to coat.
  • Microwave 1 ½ mins or until melted and mixture is smooth, stirring after 45 seconds.
  • Proceed with step 2.
