Marshmallow Treats
History: My kids love these and I have placed them in their cookbooks. Every kid grew up eating these.
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup regular margarine or butter (butter is better)
- 1 10 ounce package (about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- Melt margarine or butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Cook over low heat 3 mins longer stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat
- Add cereal and stir until well coated
- Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into buttered 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cut into 2 inch squares when cool.
Microwave Directions (I use these always)
- Microwave margarine or butter in a large microwaveable bowl at high (100% power) 45 seconds or until melted.
- Add marshmallows; toss to coat.
- Microwave 1 ½ mins or until melted and mixture is smooth, stirring after 45 seconds.
- Proceed with step 2.
