Muddy Buddies
History: This recipe is from my dear friend Debbie. Every time we did family trips with them she brought this for our kids. Her Mandy and my DLD#2 loved it. It is still DLD#2s most requested thing for mom to send.
Ingredients:
9 cups your favorite unsweetened Chex brand cereal (DLD#2 loves Rice Chex, but mom sneaks in a few cups of the Bran Chex too shhhhhhhhhhhh she doesn't know)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Ingredients:
9 cups your favorite unsweetened Chex brand cereal (DLD#2 loves Rice Chex, but mom sneaks in a few cups of the Bran Chex too shhhhhhhhhhhh she doesn't know)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Pour Chex into a very large bowl, set aside.
- Melt next 3 ingredients in saucepan or microwave.
- Stir 1 teaspoon vanilla in the melted chocolate mixture.
- Pour chocolate mixture over the cereal , stir until all pieces are evenly covered.
- Pour into resealable plastic bag then add the powdered sugar. (I have a huge yellow Tupperware bowl so I do this step in that bowl)
- Seal securely and shake until all pieces are well coated.
- Spread on waxed paper to cool. (I never do this, and forgot it was in the recipe)
- I leave it in the bowl and put it in the freezer. We love them cold and they will stay in the freezer for up to 5 months, but you'll never have them around that long.
