Mom's Brownie Trifle

History: This is a recipe I got from a nurse that I worked with in the ICU. She could cook up a storm. Everyone always wants this recipe when I take it somewhere. It is very easy, elegant, and tastes delicious.
Things you'll need:
  1. 1 large trifle bowl
  2. 1 box family size brownie mix (Make sure it is family size)
  3. 2 boxes 3.9
    ounce chocolate fudge pudding
  4. 4 cups 2 % milk (don't use soy or skim milk)
  5. 1 8 ounce Fat Free Cool Whip
  6. ¼ cp ice cream caramel sauce
  7. ¼ cup chocolate chips
Make brownies according to package directions. Let cool before cutting into approximately 2 x 2 inch squares. (If you have ever over cooked or made a bad batch of brownies you can use them in this dish so don't throw them away. Put your bad brownies in the freezer for later use in this dish.)
When you are ready to assemble the trifle, place 1 layer of the brownies on the bottom
.(I eyeball the brownies and place approximately 1/3 of the pan in each layer.)Mix up the chocolate fudge pudding 2 cups of milk per box. (If the pudding sits to long it gets to thick to pour so that is why I use 2 different boxes of pudding) Pour the pudding over the bottom layer of brownies.
Put the 2nd layer of brownies over the pudding (approximately 1/3 of the pan). Mix up the 2nd box of pudding 2 cups per box and pour over the 2nd layer of brownies.
Take the remainder of the brownies and put over the pudding. Mix the Cool Whip with 1/4 cup caramel sauce. Put the Cool Whip caramel mixture on the top of the final layer of brownies. sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips on the top of the cool whip.
Buon Appetito
